Might be both real and replica for stunt. |

I'd be surprised if Rowan Atkinson didn't insist on the real one. |

Maybe he tried, but Jag decided he'd crashed his McLaren F1 too many times to let him anywhere near it ..... |

He barely scratched it... |

Whenever he biffed it, he apparently sent it back to McLaren for repair, and they completely refurbed it at vast expense back to perfect condition. So it ended up paradoxically as both the probably most bashed F1 and the best condition F1. |

Is there a Clause in his contract, where he has drive a classic car in all his shows now? |

If it's a replica, one neat touch is the external bonnet lock which only very early ones had - possibly only the first 500. |

Pretty sure it's a regular E-Type mock to look like the Prototype. I mean Rowan did cut a square on the side... |

Someone built a replica of 9600 HP in 2010, using a 1966 coupe (so 4.2) with specialist forum thread asking for exact details to get it right. The bonnet catches ^^ are magnetic stick-ons .... |

What does the 9600 HP mean? Couldn't be 9600 horsepower, right? I know it's the registration number, but what's the significance? |

9600 HP is famous for being the earliest E-Type known to still exist. |

HP was a Coventry issue, so local to Jag's factory HQ. It was common for Coventry car firms to apply for batches of registrations, so I guess 9600 was simply within a batch and they chose it for this car because it's memorable. - Original 9600 HP (chassis 850002 or 885002 - both are quoted in sources) info here - Replica 9600 HP (chassis 1E21373, 1966 4.2, originally supplied to HK, then lived in Australia before return to UK and recent makeover to replica) info here. |

9600 Hair Pulled during conception... |

Perhaps capable of 9'600 hairpin turns? |

The show borrowed "the oldest surviving Jaguar E-type" from its owner, but created a replica for Atkinson's character to destroy. The replica was purchased by Atkinson after filming. |
