Side protection strips, reversing lights, opening quarter windows, silver paint & red cloth : look like a GTL MY 1980. -- Last edit: 2022-06-01 00:51:45 |

Not a GTL but a TL for the Italian market (They got such side protections by us after a while). This car lacks the front seats with headrests, a feature of the GTL. Even the rear wiper is missing, so not a GTL, but a TL for Italy. -- Last edit: 2022-06-01 06:56:33 |

And the opening quarter windows too ? Great, such a luxury ! It seems that the Italian market had a specialty of better equipped cars with the basic motor, I have seen that on the British Leyland products too, in the 1980s. |

Same happened about 1972 on Escort Mk1 XL 4 door - UK builds had fixed front quarterlights, Italian spec had opening. And Italy had special 1100 XL - almost everywhere else only got XL as 1300. Seems these little luxuries were important in I. |

Yes, it was for a mix of climate and gas prices/tax reasons ![]() ![]() |
