:king: Nice reference pics. Details of running changes on these Federals are almost non-existent, and they were poor sellers with unsold stock of early examples lingering for several months at dealers, so UK my detail changes don't really apply for late-registered US cars. Some 1970my P6s (ie from Oct 69 in the final year of the Mk1 before Mk2 facelift arrived in Oct 70) got vinyl covered C-pillars, but this is not a listed change in my P6 bibles and is not seen here, nor are headrests. The vinyl pillar arrived properly for all models in the Mk2 facelift, adding a Rover shield pin logo which the 1970 pillars didn't have. However this one has the 1970my bigger ROVER boot lettering, which may well be the only useable dating indicator for the Federals; there are mentions of new shrouded door handles during 1970, but comments that these were intended without actually happening.

Was "Federal" the actual name ? If not, the "Made for USA" tag should be enough.

Yes by custom. It was used on all P6s for US, as they were specific model spin-offs on 2000 and then 3500 for US from about 1966 with extra fittings above and and beyond the safety and emissions requirements. It's particularly relevant for 3500 S which only existed in Mk1 phase for US, and like all pre-1972 3500 was automatic. It also helps split the S tag, which was switched and used Oct 71 onwards for the new manual 3500 for everywhere, although US sales of any P6 had ended in 1971 with a final short batch of Federal 2000 TC.
