Volvo made two similar trucks; partly the fast L420 "Snabbe" fitted with a V8 engine, and partly the L430 "Trygge" fitted with a 4 cylinder Diesel. The L430 was slightly tougher and could take 5 ton (instead of 3 tons) of payload and as a consequence they had 6 wheelnuts on the front wheel instead of 5 for the L420. If my eyes is not betraying me, I'd say it has 5 wheelnuts. That would make sence as a paper delivering bus (AP = Aftenposten, the biggest newspaper in Norway) has to deliver the morning papers fast. The customers expect the papers to have been delivered before 6 AM in the morning, which is a tall order if the paper round is far from the printers. For a while I used to deliver morning papers. The papers from Stocholm was delivered with very fast american pick-ups. Apparently they were allowed to drive much faster than usually allowed. But having that said, one driver lost his driving licence when he drove some 150 km/h (93 mph) on a road limited to 50 km/h (31 mph)! I'd be very surprised if this is something else than a Volvo L420 "Snabbe". According to Transportstyrelsen: BOS 826 belongs to a 1977 EMBE 133 which is a trailer of some sort. <-- Is unlikely because of filming date. BOS 828 belongs today to a 2012 Volvo V50. Checking BOS 828, then. |

Nothing about the "ABC 123" registrations plates in the D-A-K archive. Mostly on W (=Dalarna) and X (=Gävleborg), but also older entries for the whole of Sweden at the time when there were not many cars around. It's still possible to do a check on registration plates, for plates issued during the years 1972-94, at Riksarkivet https://bestall.riksarkivet.se/sv/fordon-efter1972 . Feel free to do so if you want to. |
