Daewoo? |

Yes, appears to be a Lanos sedan. Sold 1999-2002 in the United States. |

Is it just me or does the rear end of these Daewoos remind you of the current-gen BMW 3-series |

@car nerd: a lot of Asian cars are looking in details similar to European premium cars. I have this impression, when I see any Lexus-models (from the very very few, which are on the roads over here). Some of them are really a mixture between BMW and Mercedes Benz. |

I always thought the Kia Amanti looked like a blatant rip-off of a Mercedes. /vehicles_make-Kia_model-Amanti.html -- Last edit: 2008-04-07 14:08:23 |

The problem is that sometimes the European one was released after, cf this case Or some Lexus which look like the Mercedes released the next year |

Right antp, I think the Lanos was out before the the current-gen BMW 3-series. I think it's a coincidence. Unfortunate for BMW |

I see the resemblance too in those taillamps. Most unfortunate. |

The Chinese are much cheekier, they are faking complete cars (and motor-bikes, chainsaws, machines, everything). In Europe it's not allowed to show some Chinese cars on exhibitions, because they are too faked. There is a BMW 3-Series-mutation on the market, also a faked Smart. Not a long time ago, the Chinese tried to bring a SUV on the European market, which was looking like a copy of the Opel/Isuzu/Vauxhall Frontera - but this car was totally failing the European crashtest, so the import was finished before its beginning. |

Not only the Asians are faking. I remember a Ford Thunderbird, which looks very much like the first BMW 6-Series. And this was a real impudence by Chrysler: /vehicle_90785-Dodge-600-1986.html -- Last edit: 2008-04-08 10:32:41 |
