Probably not a reliable indicator of relative numbers, but I was far more aware of Orion Ghias than Escorts about this time, as loads were dumped into hire/pool/lease fleets, so I ended up with being allocated several for motorway munching trips. They were better than their reputation today suggests - comfortable (unlike the crippling seats in cheaper trims) and zippy, but bizarrely the Ghias did not have a petrol gauge, only a low fuel warning light which waited until you were very low before blinking, which very nearly stranded me on hard shoulder of M6 a couple of times. |
