Those headlight probably came from a GM car from the mid-'70s. These cars are all 'low riders'- almost all owned by Hispanic guys. Most of their cars were Chevys. Someone told me that there were three important days in the year for them - their birthday, the Mexican national day (cinqo de maio??) and the day the new Chevys came out. I remember seeing many of this type of thing when I visited the US in 1978. Note the skinny tyres. They cruise along at 45 mph so that they can be seen and then do their thing with the hydraulics - bouncing up and down. |

Yep, very popular in the low-income parts of Los Angeles - I see it quite often. Even back then, these guys would drop and mod new Impalas and Caprices right after they came out. To a lesser extent, this is also done with Cadillacs, Oldsmobiles and Buicks all the way up through the early-90s. |
