Weren't they sold as Piaggio Ape ( = Bee)? One of the supermarkets here (deepest eastern Germany) has such a thing for deliveries. |

That of 2nd photo isn't an Ape,is a 1969-1971 Lambro 500/550/600(loads in Kg.)M/V(M=manubrio=handlebar- drive;V=volante=steering wheel-drive),styled by Bertone(!),made by Innocenti of Lambrate(Milan, plants near Lambro river, from which vehicle's name),Italy. Today that design survives still in India ,under the Brand of SIL=Scooter India Ltd.(at which Innocenti will sold all machinery of assembly plants, due at closure of bikes and mini trucks production line in 1972,following to be produced out of Italy--even in Diesel version, never proposed by Innocenti). PS The other truck, green, seems surely a Piaggio, believe an Ape 400(end of '60s-'70s beginning)or a 600 MP(MP=Motore posteriore=back engine,i.e.out of cab,for reduce inside noises a trick copied by rival Lambro)of 1st series(1969-1978),respectively of 175cc.and 200cc.(the second,if could be by front, must shown a pair of boxy headlights pods on each side of front shield;as its rival Lambro, could be get or handlebar-drive or steering wheel-drive,in according with the customer). -- Last edit: 2007-06-24 15:30:18 |
