I’d say it is a 1949 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible Coupe. |

I'd agree, though I'm ot sure how to differentiate between 88 and 98 (the 78 had different trim). |

There is only a very small difference indeed between them (at least I am aware of): the 98 has the FUTURAMIC insignia set in the rocker panel trim on the front fender; the 76 and 88 don’t. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=61511 http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=61526 |

It's not a 76, DynaMike is right, because it's got the Futuramic emblem on the rocker panel after the front wheel. It's a 88. The 98's rear fender and gravel guard is more rounded. Here it falls straight down. The 88's had little"88" signs, whether above "Futuramic", whetehr on the rear fender (so hidden here by the girl). |

You must not always trust the brochures: the 88 was a last minute addition to the 1949 line and I guess they used the 76's illustrations as well (you don't even see the 88 insignias). I had a 1949 88 and I can guarantee you it had the Futuramic emblem. I suspect they also put it on the 76 in the end. There are some pictures of those with it too. |

All right, my mistake. Read above what I was saying about the rear fender and gravel guard: it's definitely a 98. I got mixed up because in the other pic their shape was distorted by the perspective. Too bad the fender skirt is missing, but beautiful color and beautiful car. |
