Ford would build one without the shovelnose if you asked nicely, and some folk did. A possible reason is that if you wanted to rally it with socking great searchlights on the front, these couldn't be fitted so easily on the plastic nose extension, and maybe they'd also block airflow to the radiator. Alternatively, if the plate info is 100% solid that this was really an up-spec Custom, it would have been gutted for rally work, so home-made nose job fited for similar reasons. |
