Likely home made rather than factory RS 1800 - plate info and kitchen table-built arches - not factory shape. Small details might suggest it started life as a 1.3 Popular or similar. |

Perhaps. I was puzzled by the DVLA info, but on ewrc-results OIJ 323 is listed as RS 1800 MkII. |

Several references and pictures to OIJ 323 online. Built by Sydney Meeke, and John Lyons used it to win the 1981 and 1982 Donegal International. Has recently been fully restored. Various pictures show several different arch configurations and liveries, so it's not obvious whether the same car throughout (presumably with ongoing rebuilds) or different ones continuing the plate. Probably a woodman's axe situation - everything's been renewed at some stage - maybe reshelled a couple of times if hard used for several years, so little if anything original left. But spiritually it's an RS1800, so let it remain as one. |
