They were initially sold in Europe for the 1979 model year; they were initially sold in North America (and the rest of the world) for the 1980 model year. FWIW: The color of the Cabriolet (Rabbit Convertible) pictured is not original.
tonkatracker ◊ 2009-09-25 20:57	The "Manhole Cover" wheels on this were available from 1980-83. No overriders on bumper rule out 1983 so this has to be 80-82 which means this is a Rabbit convertible not a Cabriolet.
