Two choices, Oxford Series II, or Isis. Looking at the thin wheels, I think Oxford, but not certain. EMG reversed, 3/55 to 9/55. County of Middx. |

With the wood "paneling", would this be a Traveller variant or was that only for the Morris Minor woodies? |

I can't see any diiference in rear views of Oxford S2, Isis S1 or Isis S2 travellers - none of them had badges, and lights/hinges/bumpers/panelling all look identical. Intro dates for travellers were Oct 54 (Oxford), Feb or July 55 - 2 souurces disagree with each other (Isis S1), Oct 56 (Isis S2). Plate info doesn't quite exclude Isis S1, but Oxford seems much better bet. |

I don’t have separate figures for the production of the Travellers, but on total numbers built: - Oxford SII & SIII. 165,000 Isis SI &SII, 12,000 Plus this car does not seem to have the 15 inch wheels as fitted to Isisisis, so I would be happy to go Oxford. Also, although it is barely visible, the Isis was 10.5 inches longer than the Oxford, to accommodate the huge cast iron six. |

All Morris Estate cars of the postwar, and the Farina and ADO16 eras, plus the Morris Minis, were called “Traveller” just as the Austin estate cars were called “Countryman”. They were, in general, not “woodies”, but a steel structure with appliqué wood, although the wood did bear some stresses in a Minor Traveller, and, if rotten, would mean an MoT test failure and withdrawal of its fitness for use. One of my many uncles had an Oxford Traveller in Birch Grey, ROM29. We kids used to take great delight in sitting in the back section, pulling faces at the cars behind! /vehicle_293742-Morris-Oxford-Traveller-1956.html Believe it or not, that hideous beige was a listed colour! /vehicle_729724-Morris-Oxford-Traveller-1959.html Later Series IV “All Steel” Traveller. No wood, four doors, no equivalent saloon, the Oxford V was the 1489cc “Farina”. -- Last edit: 2022-11-30 14:11:06 |

I have a 1965 Morris Mini Traveler (game's name, not mine) and a 1953 Morris Minor Traveler in Forza Horizon 5, an open-world driving game. I used decals to make both of them actual woodie wagons!![]() ![]() |
