Origin Japan as rebadged Mitsubishi Pajero |

Well, by 1997 it was not simply a rebadge anymore, but a redesign using the old body panels. I guess that could be considered origin Japan, even though we count most early Seats as origin Spain despite being mere mutations of already existing Fiats... |

This would lead to discuss (surely it has been already done on the forum) what makes a model's origin: I believe it should be the combination of body and chassis, excluding all the 'removable' parts (eg. exterior body panels, but also engines or gearboxes). For what I know (but I can be wrong), the 1997 Galloper was modified only in some of the above-mentioned removable parts, leaving most of the original Pajero at its place. But this is only my personal view, I'm open to discuss it. I agree what you said about older Seat cars: for example, I wouldn't consider a standard 2-doors 127 as a Spanish car, while it could be done for the 4-door versions (different bodyshell, if confirmed that the design was made by Seat in Spain) |
