It's rather difficult to put a definitive model year on high priced cars like the one above. That is because it's not unlikely someone have tried to make it look better before a sale and in the process taken whatever spare parts that have been available at the time. For sure is that it doesn't have a chromed side strip or chromed wheel arches. Hence it's likely a W111 rather than a W112. It has the pre 1968 grille with more 'squares'. Hence likely a 220 SE or a 250 SE than a 280 SE. The 14" wheels with the big chromed wheel embelisher originally pointed to a MY 1966+, but many 220 SE (13" originally) changed them to decrease the revs at high speed. The inside rear view mirror might point to a date before MY 1966 (with the introduction of the W108/W109), but some W111 got them for MY 1966 as well. Perhaps it's safe to go with a W111 220 SE, unless the number plate gives any information? |

Nothing found for any 327 PCx combination. Very few were issued in period - possibly only PCV (Cornwall, Sept-Oct 62). |

Production of the 220 SE Convertible made between February 1961 and October 1965, with pre series from September 1960, so it would fit. Hence I suggest a 1962 or 1963 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE(b) Convertible [W 111]. |
