Would be "orign Germany" correct? For historical reasons, "yes" in my opinion, for all other Moskvitch 400, 401 and 420, too. The Soviet Army had picked up the complete Opel-plant, included all machines, tools, cars, spare parts (and engineers, too) in Brandenburg/Havel and has rebuilt it in Russia. -- Last edit: 2008-05-25 22:40:10 |

AFAIK they didn't start producing Moskvitches until they had shipped the plant to Russia, so - irrespective of where it was designed, its origin would be USSR. Compare the various versions of the Hillman Avenger that appeared in South America: their origins are Argentina, Colombia or wherever. I don't see that the fact that the Russians ripped the plant off makes any difference ![]() |
