I hadn't really payed attention to it before, but there appears to be an airbrush of Marlinspike Hall/Moulinsart/Molenbeek on the trunk! :wow:

Not very French! The problem is that except for Michel Vaillant, basically all the most notable Franco-Belgian comics were created by Belgians. Even my idea** of the classic personalized 2CV is more French...As for the car itself, it has the 1977+ four bolt rear bumper and what appears to be the 1980-82 silver/black badge. The color seems to be 'beige nevada', 1980/81 2CV 6 Club.

**Pepe Le Pew leaning against the trunk, Marie, Berlioz and Toulouse on the driver's side doors, a poodle with a beret on the passenger side, and the Pink Panther on the hood. An oversized cheap no-name toy, about as French as French Montana...

watched the The Adventures of Tintin cartoon last year and it sucked , supposedly very faithful to the comics but found it very boring and stale

Oh yes, Asterix, that's what I actually meant. I don't know why I said Michel Vaillant...

regarding Michel Vaillant the german dub of the cartoon they made one weird change [:kiki] , they turned Steve Warson into Steve Vaillant, Michel's brother

As a huge fan of Spirou comics since childhood, I must admit I never watched the cartoon that much. From what I can recall, I didn't like the Norwegian dub's VAs. Might give it a shot now.

My only complaint about Tintin is that they had every opportunity to continue the series (especially as the later episodes had vastly improved animation), but I suppose they weren't allowed to make new stories as Hergé wasn't alive to give them permission to. From what I understand of the Spirou cartoon, this was never an issue as Spirou was still an ongoing comic and I think Dupuis were more lenient than the copyright holders of Tintin. As such, the Spirou cartoon was allowed more liberties and had some original stories loosely based on existing material.

and there was another major belgian comic turned into cartoons and even a few live action movies: Lucky Luke

to me it was absolutely terrible and no idea why so popular, Lucky Luke has no flaws really he is like Superman without the kryptonite , how many times episode after episode he somehow toys around with 4 Dalton bothers with ease and the only question how he humiliates and then captures them only for them to escape jail and repeat

the Terence Hill live action movie

well , Lucky Luke albums do not always turn around the Daltons , there was also Calamity Jane , Billy the kid ..
Joe considers himself as the most intelligent / leader of the Daltons and is probably the closest to match Lucky Luke , while William and Jack are possibly too scared of Joe to contest and just follow and Averell is.. well.. Averell..
so ,its mostly a 1-on-1 battle with 3 extras , at least to me

If Lucky Luke is too perfect for you , you should see what his horse can do.. :D

I've seen both live action Lucky Luke , did not saw Terrence Hill's one in about 2 millions years and i found the Jean Dujardin one , well.. unfunny , not to say depressing..

I've been reading Spirou and Gaston for 16 years now. Aside from the idiotic "Spirou chez les fous" it's never disappointed me. Though one of my favorite stories is actually not a comic at all, it was called "Robinson on rails" and was a serialized story in the magazine, where Spirou must race across Western Europe to manually stop a plutonium-powered runaway train (the driver's cabin can only be opened from the inside, and of course Gaston shut the door after accidentally getting his jacket caught on the gas lever...)

Lucky Luke was published in Germany by a number of companies, foremostly Dargaud (these are generally the best ones), then Zack magazine, Ehapa and of course the godawful Kauka translations, where Rolf felt it was necessary to not only make Jolly Jumper a mare named Rosa, but completely defictionalize all the legendary gunslingers of the West. Every single great Franco-Belgian comic that passed through his hands was mercilessly politicized, racified and dumbed down to 60s schlock for kids. You like Asterix? Too bad, we got Siggi and Barbaras, living in Cologne, 50 AD in the HRE. And while we're at it, let's make the sickle dealer from the "Golden Sickles" a Jewish stereotype:

Though I must admit, his version of "chez les britanniques" does sound much better than the Ehapa release where they just made the English speak German with English grammar. Definitely getting The Persuaders German dub vibes from this:

Believe me, it’s that bad. Even “Machine qui reve” was more exciting.

Machine qui reve was awesome. Out of all of Tome et Janry's stories I've always felt Le réveil du Z was extremely rushed, but I loved the futuristic Blade Runner-like setting.
I would have loved to see a more fleshed out remake of that story, but drawn in the same style as Machine qui reve.

there was another belgian comic which made it big and got cartoon adaptation , the 1981 cartoon lasted 9 seasons and 256 episodes !! plus more series and film adaptations

The Smurfs

not my cup of tea but guess there was plenty of audience if you can go 9 seasons !!

Le réveil du Z was a bit boring, I think the Cyanida story is still my favorite out of the T&J era. My Hayes coded parents even considered banning it for me because they found it too suggestive and violent for a 9/10 year old :p which is of course exactly the intention for "Luna fatale".

The span of the New York adventure to Valley of the Damned was probably the best of the T&J era. Spirou in Moscow was rather silly, Vito the Unlucky was awesome. I remember getting it for my first Christmas back in Germany in '08, after discovering the series via "La mauvaise tete".

But you wanna hear a really stupid thing?
Spoiler - click here to see it
I used to avoid or be very cautious of albums featuring the Marsupilami, because for some reason I really didn't like the way its tail looked when tied up as a sort of mace or flail. I thought it was gross.

If you thought Cyanure (Cyanida in Norwegian) was risqué, you should consider giving Spirou et la Gorgone bleue a shot - featuring voluptous women in skin-tight body suits and bikinis, an aircraft carrier manned entirely by stereotypically drawn (1940s/1950s style) African-Americans and the main antagonist is Donald Trump. They even cancelled it amid these controversies, but that's not surprising in these times. Personally, I felt it was a breath of fresh air, even if they clearly took it too far. Thus, this album has become somewhat of a collector's item now.

The Count of Champignac has probably made his first billion after devising mycological breakthroughs in the name of science over the past 75 years, and he still prefers his grand old manor and sugarcube-powered pink Duesie over a mansion with pool and Cybertruck.
