It's quite complicated. Pretty sure all 69 models had 'UAZ' lettering stamped on the hood ever since the production had shifted to Ulyanovsk plant since 1956. The problem is that these were still advertised as GAZ 69 regardless of different manufacturing plant, or at least this is the case for export market (a 1969 V/O Avtoexport advertisement, for example). An acquaintance of mine has a 1968 model and in his certificate of vehicle registration, it says "GAZ" as well. |
