1956 Ford Mainline [73A] (see *)
*I thought Custom at first, but it appears the name appeared again starting in 1957. Please correct if wrong.

They were called "Customline" in 56. This is a Customline. Mainline didn't have any side trim at all (or maybe it was just a straight one, but this one has the Customline trim).

Customline alright. The Mainline had no side trim at all.

[73B] would be correct, then. My guess was due to the fact that the trim started behind the front (only) doors. I now know an important detail to spot on these cars!

Comments may justify editing car's identification:
DynaMike wrote That is strange indeed. Still I'd say: no side trim or only side trim an the rear part: Mainline; side trim all over the length and downward point at the rear (with or without two-tone): Customline; side trim all over the length and downward point on the front doors: Fairlane.
