Yes - SS2, normal wheelbase, export spec similar to US without front spoiler or headlight wipers. |

Are we sure this isn't a USDM Rolls? Problem is that i can't actually confirm since i know nothing about them. Usually, European cars sold here are similar in spec to their European counterparts but sometimes that's not the case (late 2000s/early 2010s GCC Spec Ferrari's are based on North American Spec). Here's a Kuwaiti one from back in the day. A Saudi one: a Bahraini one: Looking it up online for local examples showed mix results. This one appears to be a US Spec. Link to "sayartii.com" This one I ain't sure. http://www.bahrainsale.com/BAH_MyCar_en.aspx?NoLink=Yes&carid=2005 -- Last edit: 2023-05-10 19:43:56 |

^ Ignore your first (red) and 3rd (blue) examples - they're earlier Silver Shadow I with chrome bumpers. Rubber bumpers came as part of the SS2 facelift for everywhere, although there is a brief anomaly when final year SS1 for US got rubber bumpers earlier than anywhere else. This causes some chaos for IDs, but can be ruled out here for other little details - eg all SS1 for everywhere had round mirrors, all SS2 had rectangular. Your Saudi example is SS2 (or to be accurate a lwb Silver Wraith II - vinyl roof and Corniche hubcaps the other clues), and it has headlight wipers which US cars did not get - it may also lack sidemarkers. Your 2 linked examples are both from the II generation - the brown saloon matches the subject car as having US-like features, except orange/white split for front sidelights, where subject car looks full orange. The blue one is a 2-door Corniche FHC (basically an SS coupe) and puzzling because it has no sidemarkers, which by this time (listed as a 77) were standard as far as I know on all Shadows and derivatives for everywhere, so either it's been tweaked or it matches the Saudi Wraith as perhaps another specific local market permutation which so far hasn't been recognised. Going back to the subject car, it has similar elements to those found on US SS2s, and as I've no solid info on what a Bahrain spec SS2 would look like for details it could be a US import. But a US import would have lots of emission strangling gubbins to cripple engine output, so would be slower than a constipated snail without spending a fair bit on mechanical upgrade. Which makes little sense as these are fairly cheap cars when bought 2nd hand and can be sourced easily enough from other countries without the emissions hardware if there's no local stock. And I'm fairly sure Bahrain received a fair few of these when new. So my best guess is that a US-sourced SS2 is some way down the list of plausible explanations. -- Last edit: 2023-05-10 23:43:17 |
