Oddly enough it's got side-markers, but I really doubt these were officially sold in North America (or were they?) Interestingly, a couple of examples found across the Atlantic seem to have these side-markers : Link to "www.curbsideclassic.com" |

The article says that they were sold in Canada. A user comment adds: |

Great find! yes, they were sold in Canada, since 1982 to 1987 circa, and I think it's (finally) our first CDN-spec example! |

i know the Minitre was sold here and my books do mention the DeTomaso but they were sold in really small quantities ( i've seen probably less than 10, all models combined ) |

Sad that they were left outside under the weather anyway, some CDN-specs leftover stocks remained in Italy and they were sold to the public since late 1985 as the special edition "America": https://www.targhenere.net/gallery/photogallery.php?photo_id=56364 Also Italian wiki states the official export to Canada was in 1984-86, with sales continuing into 1987, and some comments in both links say they were sold by some Maserati dealers and by smaller independent firms who often sold also Lada, Skoda and Hyundai. Just noticed that the hood scoop is located on the other side, unlike the earlier models, so it's definitely a later model. So, a CND-spec model which ended up in sunny CA? |

with the winters we have here, can't really blame it .. there was a Omni O24 DeTomaso ! |

Or were there scenes filmed in CDN? Btw, the hood scoop was moved in 1983, when they adopted the Daihatsu powerplant. I believe those models were anyways 1984+ in CDN. It seems side markers were Maserati Biturbo's ones. |

I'm pretty sure that this is the European Street at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. https://www.universalstudioslot.com/backlot/3401/european-street |

This version (with Daihatsu engine) in Italy was introduced with October 1983 price list as the 3 Cilindri Turbo. In February 1984 the Sanyo turbocharger was replaced by an IHI unit, and the name changed again to Turbo De Tomaso. As I understand, exports to Canada started in early 1984, and I believe they only got the latter (and anyways I don't think the naming 3 Cilindri would have been used), so I'm listing it as 1984+ Turbo De Tomaso. |
