Good work on these Rover dsl ![]() Updated. No idea for this one? |
◊ 2010-10-14 20:31 |
Thanks - probably post 1994 colour scheme, but I'm guessing. 3 door basic 214 came at initial launch, first GTi in 91, so it's fairly open on what is visible here. Wheels look like plastic trims not alloys, so not a vroom-vroom spec in this case. |

Right now we have two hardcore-checker on the run! dsl for the Rover 200's, Weasel1984 for the Renault Trafic's ![]() |

If I recall it was these but also I think the 800. If I can remember from years back when I rode in my cousins old wreck of one of these (White 1992 216 SLi for those interested) there was a flat space on the dash top beneath the awful fake wood trim where it lay. And like this that car was the rare three door! -- Last edit: 2010-10-14 21:11:35 |

So the sportive version in Ford Sierra XR4i-style? |
◊ 2010-10-14 21:20 |
The side windows at the back look alike but it is not really a sporty car in the same way. The rare 220 Turbo Coupe was that. They made both a Coupe and a 3 door hatch for some reason. The 1.6 K Series was a pretty good engine for performance though if you compare it to Escorts and Astras. I don't know whether it was my cousin's enthusiastic driving style or the typical Rover build quality that saw the car go to the scrapper before it's tenth birthday. Does this look like the bit: http://www.aronline.co.uk/images/r200400_07.jpg ? |

Hardcore-checker! Is that an extreme taxi? Yes the R8 Gti was a bit like the XR4i package, but also available with put-put engines alongside vroom-vroom ones. |

Off Topic alert As both ingo and dsl are present I have found some confectionary they might be interested in : http://newslite.tv/2010/09/30/marmite-chocolate-bar-set-to-t.html |

Could be interesting - thanks for the consumer alert. I'd been wondering how to break it gently to ingo that they released a special extra-strong Marmite (a kind of vintage reserve) fairly recently but this news takes us on to another dimension. |

Due my good education and my sophisticated communication-style I've chosen the term "checker" - and not "nitpicker". ![]() Yes, I'm too unknowing for this. I cannot make such a specialized nitpicking. ![]() |

Don't cry, ingo. We all contribute to the site in our individual ways and we should all be proud of what we offer. |

Yes, this is it, thanks for the pic. Mine is only in the mirrored LHD-version. |

@dsl: Early Checkers did look extreme indeed: /vehicle_161359-Checker-Model-A-1941.html |

Thanks for the attention, but when I need the next Scottish kick in my life, I'll open the Haggis-tin, which is still here. O.k., not fresh made one (even bought at ALDI UK), but palatable anyways. And I'm seriously planning to visit the next show of our local Pipes & Drums-band. There is one in my village - you haven't thought it, eeh? ![]() |

Looks like it was - for want of a better word - inspired by those kitchen spatulas which are used for turning over fried eggs. |
◊ 2010-10-14 22:33 |
Or like this one: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eierschneider (a German invention ![]() |

Those egg slicers always remind me of sandwiches made with hard-boiled eggs which have been overcooked, and which were only ever made for rainy picnics. |
◊ 2010-10-14 22:47 |
This is rather Scottish then, eeh? |
◊ 2010-10-14 23:01 |
Not just Scottish - seemed to happen on every Bank Holiday expedition in England and Wales too. |
◊ 2010-10-14 23:17 |
Hmmm, English people, I've met, have pointed out, that this shall be a special problem in Scotland and Wales. ![]() It was the couple, who have answered on my complaint, that our whole time in Scotland in July(!!) 2001 it was raining as worst, but that the Scottish people have said, that this this year it's the worst, "Aaah, the Scots are telling this every year!" |
◊ 2010-10-14 23:21 |
There are places in England where it rains a lot (like Manchester) and places in Scotland where it is sunny a lot. My home town is said to have the highest number of hours of sunshine in Scotland or something similar. |

Is it possible to play tunes on the egg-slicer - sort of like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cW5l4p14hY ? And continuing the europop theme, this made me laugh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdWDJCKEh8k . |
◊ 2010-10-14 23:37 |
Why Europop? Wikipedia say, that the orign band was American http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Butter Btw., as a lover of the classic 70ies I own the original 45-disc, too. ![]() |

As someone once wrote "An attentive IMCDB-member can learn every day something new here." My sister had the popcorn 45 too - on the blue Pye label in Britain with a matching blue paper sleeve. |

Nightmare - mine was Perry @!£*ing Como. |

Could be worse. Eight days after I was born 'Ice Ice Baby' by Vanilla Ice was number one. Never has a song gone downhill so fast from it's opening. |
◊ 2010-10-15 18:26 |
And the opening is "loaned" from annother song. |

Finally managed to buy some - never found it in shops, so tracked down online. It is interesting - tastes of chocolate and Marmite as separate contrasts without cancelling each other out - slightly weird, but intriguing. I'm not convinced enough to recommend it, but would say to anyone curious about food to try it out and decide for yourself. |
