@alex not sure if you were following but bux and I found, ran plates, and confirmed via VINs, there were 1993 built and model year 5 door hatches. I updated the few we had listed as 1994 for Vauxhall. |

Uh sorry, I probably missed it Curious, anyway, since the 5-door model debuted in September |

I thought so too, or at least that they were introduced a little later than 3-doors, but it seems they were introduced together Here a Vauxhall with a June 1993 plate and 1993MY VIN: https://www.flickr.com/photos/47381765@N04/16422385282/ And I checked and also in Italy we had them since April 1993 by price lists. It seems at the beginning there were slower deliveries for 5-doors, so that's probably the reason for which often they are thought debuting later. Also, runout A (very often 5-doors) overlapped for some months until the fall, more or less, and we have one of those: /vehicle_629393-Opel-Corsa-1993.html Here a 5-doors in Italy with June 1993 plate: https://ibb.co/zNsyXhK |

I did some research and it seems that the 5-door model debuted for MY 1994 in Germany and Austria only (to be honest, I cannot find any traces of 5-door B-models in Austria before 1995 ). Opel-club Team Niedersachsen confirms that the 5-door model is to be considered starting from MY 1994 at least for Germany: The only explanation I can think of is that Opel wanted to clear out the remaining stock of the still well selling Corsa A in its home country and initially concentrate on the 3-door model built in the brand new Eisenach plant. Anyway, this delay doesn't surprise me at all, since Germany was then one of the last markets to receive the Corsa A, in February 1983, just after Spain, France and Italy (Vauxhall joined the party even later, launching the Nova last in April 1983) |

That's really interesting and maybe a bit weird. Yes, I agree with you about the reasons. Anyway, it seems that still many B 3-doors were being built in Spain by our findings, and maybe all RHD ones, at least before the facelift? Nice link anyway, another reference for trim/special editions logos |

RHD models seem to be all Spanish-sourced indeed. I only found a few Eisenach-assembled Vauxhalls of later generations (D/E): probably the plant was not equipped with tooling for RHD vehicles until the arrival of the Adam in 2013. Since the Adam is built on the same platform of the Corsa D and E and is exported from Eisenach also to RHD markets, they probably started building also some RHD units of the Corsa from them on. Anyway, series assembly in Eisenach began in June 1993, five months after the launch of the Corsa B: I believe that most German-spec 3-door models from then on came from Eisenach, but without the possibility to find German VINs, this is just a guess for now, based in particular on the fact that the plant built its millionth vehicle in 1999: those million cars must surely have gone somewhere -- Last edit: 2024-04-09 00:21:23 |

Yes, and there are a lot of brochures for every model |

That's interesting to know if confirmed, would mean that all Vauxhall (and RHD Opel) Corsa until maybe the 2011 D facelift should be built in Spain. I believe too you're right about those million cars going somewhere |

I always wondered about this indeed: under GM ownership, Eisenach only produced 3-door Corsa models and some Astra in alternating phases (before the Adam and - after the PSA takeover - the Grandland). But most of the 3-door models I've found here on the site are Spanish-sourced. The first time I wondered about this it was in high school, when one of the first classmates to get a driver's license had an old facelifted Corsa B, 3-door model: while another classmate wanted to show us how he could lift the front of the car by hand I noticed a sticker of GM Espana under the car, while I was sure that our market got them all from Eisenach |

Interestingly, also first friend of mine to get a license in my class had a light blue facelifted Corsa B Anyway, I think with a car of so large diffusion a single plant wasn't enough and they frequently needed supplementary production. Think that, for example, in Italy in its best years (1997/98) they sold about 100k Corsa per year. |

A small note for those who didn't know: the Eisenach plant also built the 5-door model of the Corsa C (only 5-door Corsa built in Eisenach, from 2001 to 2006). I didn't know this before, so I may have defaulted many 5-door Corsa C as built in Spain without checking |
