This might be our very first example of the Austin Marina Pickup in IMCDB...they did not sell very well and our now a rarity.. "8 months after the saloon and coupé, giving British Leyland a full-circle competitor for the Cortina and Capri. Five body styles were available all in all: saloon, estate, coupé, pickup, and van." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_Marina -- Last edit: 2023-08-27 08:53:13 |

The names on these Marina-based things are a nightmare. The van was sold as Austin, Morris and Austin Morris, with 7cwt and 10cwt versions of each. Pick up launched Sept 74 as 10cwt (1275cc) in both Austin and Morris versions, but only for 2 months until combined Austin-Morris branding from Dec 74, slightly tweaked Oct 75 with Marina Mk2 updates but kept previous grille which now contained the Austin-Morris badge, replaced Sept 78 by Morris 575 pickup. There was no 7cwt or 440 (1098cc) pickup. The grille badges were the only slight clue what name any given example is, but looks perhaps longer Austin Morris here, which makes sense for the dates. But I doubt if Greece used 10cwt name - meaningless in countries which used metric system. Some permutation of ½ton/tonne or 500kg is more likely, but I've no idea what name actually used, so entering as 10cwt to keep it with some friends. |
