 I recently read on more than a book that the name AMC Rambler (without "American") was just used for 1969 only. In 1968 it was still a Rambler America. I am not sure but I think the same happened for the Rebal.

Yes and no. It was known as the Rambler Rebel for 1967 and then Rebel for 1968 and 1969.
