I think that's a 1961 Oldsmobile [Dynamic or Super] 88 Holiday hardtop sedan |

I thought it looked somehow smaller and roofline was also different. /vehicle_182771-Oldsmobile-88-Holiday.html |

Of the 1961 98 there were two different hardtop sedans: a six-window Holiday sedan and the Sport Sedan as pictured here. |

Sports Sedan (with an "S"). Site still seems to list 98 and Ninety-Eight separately. There is one "Ninety Eight" for Saw IV whose title includes no hyphen. On my next crusade, but not now, I would like to know when the terms Sports Sedan and Luxury Sedan were first used by Oldsmobile. The Luxury Sedan has a fixed C-pillar window that looks like part of a six-window sedan when the rear door windows are rolled up. |

Damnit I was wrong! http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=62380 I guess the change came in 1962. What could be the reason for the added "s?" I wonder if the copy editor was having a little too much Windsor Canadian Whiskey one night in the summer of '61... 1962: http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=62497 (I couldn't find any sales publications of 1963 to verify the spelling for that year) 1964: http://www.tocmp.com/brochures/Olds/1964/pages/OLDS04_jpg.htm -- Last edit: 2008-07-19 02:07:12 |
