R 1714, winner of the first Spanish Grand Prix in 1913, driven by Don Carlos de Salamanca y Hurtado de Zaldivar, later Marqués of Salamanca, who had recently become Rolls-Royce’s new agent in Madrid. RR also entered their own car (R 1713), driven by Eric Platford which would have easily won until it was ordered to pull over to let DCdSyHdZ (as he was known to his mates) win. But a Lorraine-Dietrich sneaked through as well, demoting Platford to 3rd. No chassis numbers found, but lots of info here. -- Last edit: 2023-11-04 22:07:23 |
