It seems to be a 71-72 Corcel, four doors, with taxi plates. There was also a 2-doors model called Corcel Cupê and a 2-doors wagon, all were based on the Renault 12. When Ford bought Willys Overland do Brasil around 67-68, the M project came together. Willys was a brazilian licensee to manufacture Dauphine-Gordini series (together with Jeep and derivates) and developped the R-12 from the French project. Meanwhile the first sales came before than in France. The wagon had a LDO top model, with American-look fake-wood side trim. Very collectable. |

You will find behind the Corcel a fine dark coupe, looking like a Porsche. Sorry, it is a Karmann-Ghia TC, based in the usual K-Ghia also produced between 70 and 76 in Brazil, but with 1.6 liter flat engine, common to typ 3 squarebacks and Variants. There is also a Dodge dart Sedan and a Kombi. |

The Karmann Ghia, though not very visible, should deserve its own page, I'd say. It would be the first on the site... |

Wouldn't it be possible to have a pic of the VW without the Ford in foreground? |

"Selva de Pedra" (Stone Jungle) was a successful Brazilian soap, it was remade in the middle of the 80s. -- Last edit: 2008-12-31 13:53:42 |
