Mh so you're telling me this is a very early model updated with '85 MY rear lights and the bigger Ronal 8J alloys? |

That's what the plate is telling at least I couldn't have a clue based off the car alone There is actually a note in the registration stating the car was damaged (1997) and had its VIN re-imprinted, maybe they imprinted the incorrect VIN and made a time-travelling quattro by accident |

It also returns: Farge: Rød So it can be either a genuine '85+ car with the wrong VIN or a rebuilt early model after that crash with a different colour too. Edit: Thank you for these pictures! So here we go: I can definitely tell by the first photo that we've got quite a molested quattro here, from the colour to the Sport quattro alike lights, grille and tuning bonnet/alloys. The second (beautiful) picture seems to show the quattro back in its glory days, but it would be the proof that it's not an early model by the '83 MY-84 front lights and grille. Still, it has got the '85+ Ronal alloys. -- Last edit: 2023-12-20 19:15:40 |

MY1981, not 1980. The VIN is normal for a Quattro, they had their own numbering system with a leading 9 for serial number. The front end fitted during the repair could be anything, remember this was done (approved) 1997, front end may have been from a newer donor vehicle, anyway the 'old' VIN was stamped in the engine bay identifying the car. |

Plate infos also say: Registrert første gang i Norge: 02.04.1984 Unless this is an imported car this registration date would match the model year of what can be seen in that old black and white photo which could have been taken before the repair in 1997 though. |

Not listed as imported car, but 1st registration and 1st Norwegian registration dates are different : |

@AleX_DJ: These dates are just what identifies a used import car. In the text box of the page you linked : Rødfarget bensindrevet personbil førstegangsregistrert i utlandet i 1980 og bruktimportert til Norge i 1984. Avregistrert 5 mars 2013. (English translation: Red petrol-powered passenger car first registered abroad in 1980 and imported second-hand to Norway in 1984. Deregistered 5 March 2013.) |
