DKW ou Auto-Union?...faudrait qu'on se décide un jour où l' autre?...car ça me rappelle une discussion |

It is the DKW 3=6 Typ F94 as produced between February and August 1957. It has the new grille (Feb'57) and the old style 'suicidal doors' (replaced Sep'57). http://www.dkw-autos.de/ |

"3=6" ? That's a funny model name -- Last edit: 2006-01-16 23:42:49 |

3=6 was also its slogan. A 3 cylinder, two-stroke engine was as good as a 6 cylinder, four-stroke engine, according to DKW. |

The DKW four door saloon and Universal (estate) actually retained their suicide doors until the production in Germany ceased altogether in 1962, whereas all other models switched to regular doors for model year 1958 (commencing, as you stated, in Sept '57), according to my research material. From 1959 onwards, the car (like all other DKWs) was sold as an Auto Union DKW and received the famous four rings prominently tucked on the grille. The cars in the movie might be actual Polizei versions, not movie props, since the 1957-59 'civilian' F94 had "3=6" scriptplates on the front wings behind the wheel arches. 'De-badging' was common practice with the German police. -- Last edit: 2006-01-17 02:36:14 |
