The main assumption here is that the radiator grille fitted is original to the car. There is no other evidence visible which can separate the MkVI from the R-type. Can you explain why you think it is an R-type rather than a MkVI? It may help. |

Thank you for this. I’m afraid that doesn’t work, the MkVI and the R-type Standard Steel saloons both used the same wing pressing. I believe that this example is a late R-type, built after chassis number B210TN so approximately August 1953 onwards because the grille has a centre bar, with 9 shutters per side. The design remained like this until the model was dropped from production in favour of the S1, in May 1955. |
