80s International...

I thought that at first, but on further inspection the fenders don't seem to match. S-Series fenders came down to about halfway above the tire, these don't reach down that far.

The fenders look like something from GM. So maybe a Chevrolet Kodiak/GMC TopKick?

The only issue is the turn signal not being that far over like it is in the thumbnail.

How about Ford L-Series?

You were actually technically right about the International Harvester S-Series in your first comment RedBoy.

There was actually a "face-lifted" version of the S-Series that was introduced in 1990 that completely dropped the S-Series name that I completely forgot about. Very forgettable trucks IMO.

So here's a bit of a run down:

- S-Series models made for the 1978 to 1986 Model Years are known as: "International Harvester S-Series"
- S-Series models made for the 1987 to 1989 Model Years are known as: "International S-Series" after International was bought by Navistar in 1985/86.
- S-Series models made for the 1990 to 2003 Model Years are known as: "International 2000-Series" after the S-Series badging was dropped in 1990.
(Wikipedia says the 2000-Series was discontinued in 2001 but I've found VINs for 2002 and 2003 so..?)

95% sure this is either the same truck or an identical one.

No S-Series badges are present both in the thumbnail and IRL; 1990-2003 by default.

-> 1990+ International 2000-Series

Wiki can be edited by whomever, whenever, however :( Always try and validate your findings there with other sources.

That would make sense because of the rebranding of nomenclature in the late 1980s to just numbers without prefixes.

Bray the logo on the grille did appear to change at some point. I noticed the updated emblem just by a quick google search but never narrowed the year of actual change.

I've been trying to narrow down the years on the grills for these trucks, but the problem is that often times grills were swapped or new badges were applied whenever these trucks went into repair shops for servicing. This practice is still done to this day apparently as I've seen Freightliner FLD models in my area that have 1989-95 MYs with 1996+ Badging.

Here's how I think the badges evolved. Obviously, these only apply to stock models that haven't been grill-swapped or re-badged.

From 1978 to 1986, the lighter versions of the S-Series (S1600, S1700, S1800, etc.) all had the same grill design when they were built. Just a plain International text plate. (Sometimes it was painted over chrome or black depending on the truck.)

Starting the same year, the heavier S-Series models. (S2100, S2200, S2300, etc.) had a similar design, but with the name plate being between the grill bars. Same type of paint applies to this just like the smaller S-Series.

1984 is where it gets weird. The heavier S-Series models got a minor grill update. For some reason the "IH" logo was added to the bottom right corner of the grill. The was present on all stock 1984, 1985, and 1986 models.(I assume this was to have a similarity to the 9670/4370 model trucks?) Again, some are painted black, some have painted letters, and some are chrome. The lighter S-Series models did not receive this grill update.

In 1987, just like the CO(F)-9670 and the new 9370 models. They all received the new Navistar Badging. The standard orange logo in the corner.

In 1990, the logo was changed again. This time to just a small orange logo with the International name underneath it. The grill shapes all became vertical too for some reason.

There's also an alternative logo for the 1990+ 2000-Series trucks, this one being grey instead of orange. These badges are the most common ones that are used in re-badging so I have no clue what year these were implemented. Going off of eLMeR's comment here it might've been 1993? Not 100% sure but I've figured they would be somewhat consistent: /vehicle_185521-International-9600-1993.html

The S-Series and the Freightliner FLD are the worst trucks ever when it comes to re-badging as their respective companies changed their logos halfway through their production. And rather than just keeping the old ones, they actually gave dealerships new badges to put on trucks whenever they came back for servicing.

Wikipedia and Auction Sites are not much help either. People can just guess and enter any year which makes pinning down exact years almost impossible. Thankfully that's what we got IMCDB for. :D
