I think it was written "Snappon" on the BMWs plate.

The car was driven by Mr. Igoe (Vernon Wells).

Too bad no picture was given. This was a black US 635csi, with after-market black wheels (maybe steel, not alloys). Aggressive driving and stunts. Pretty cool scene, but very brief - only lasts 2 min. max.

Great photos! I haven\\\'t seen all these scenes. Don\\\'t remember the tow truck scene (air-dam damage). Now I can see they spray-painted the original wheels similar color to the body-color, and removed the BMW center-caps. The car also has after-market side-skirts.

Fun fact, in the script, the BMW is just called "the Black Sedan," and gets pretty trashed chasing Ozzie. It handles badly so Igoe complains that he was "a new black sedan," specifically a Mercedes. Later in a sequence not used in the final film, he and some goons chase Jack prior to the restaurant scene where Igoe captures him, and they are in fact in a black Mercedes, with Igoe jovially saying, "You can't beat German engineering!" So I guess the generic "Black Sedan" he used in the earlier sequence was originally meant to be something else, not a BMW.

Also in the script, the car isn't towed as I recall. I honestly can't remember the Mercedes' fate, just that Igoe ditches both it and the goons with him and takes the freezer truck by choice rather than necessity. He seems far more single-minded in the script than in the film (despite having lines there).

Do we have any BMW experts that could tell us the actual name of the colour of this 635CSi? Because it doesn't look like black.

You can see a list of BMW 6 Series colours from the 1980s here.

The closest match appears to be Dolphin Grey, though of course it could have been completely resprayed a non BMW colour along with the other modifications.

It handles worse in the film than a BMW really would.

True. The way it handled it was shockingly bad. It's like the rear tires were completely worn out and the dampers were completely shot. The car bounced and skidded all over the place. No wonder Mr. Igoe couldn't keep up with the nerd in the bicycle.
