I can't see the cowl insignia, but this has to be either a 1948-53 Chevrolet 4400 or 6400. |

It had a Medium Duty complement so far. But for the record, the 1947-55 Advance-Design truck line was separated that way: • Light-duty: ½-ton (3100) models; • Medium-duty: ¾-ton (3600) and 1-ton (3800) models; • Heavy-duty: 1½-ton (4x00) and 2-ton (5x00 and 6x00) models. Their GMC siblings, a.k.a. New Design models, were more "conventional" ones, with the medium-duty starting with the 1½-ton 300 and ending with the 2½-ton 400. This (factory sold) stake has the 1951+ vent windows, the 1952+ "push button system" door handle and the 1953-54 hood side emblem, but not the 1954-55 grille and one-piece windshield: it's a 1953 only model. As already said by Ddey65, a 4400 or a 6400 (due to the 161"/4.09 m wheelbase), without any possibility to tell one over the other: ![]() -- Last edit: 2015-06-28 04:15:53 |
