That little dog leg in the skeg line, right in front of the rear wheel makes this a 1976 Oldsmobile 88. |

The building in the center of the picture is Garfinckel's department store at 14th and F Streets in downtown Washington, DC. The company went into bankruptcy and closed down in 1990. The building was later added to the National Register of Historic Places and currently serves as an office building and shopping center. The building on the left is the Willard Hotel, built in 1901. It closed in 1968 and didn't reopen until 1986, after a major renovation. So as far as I can tell, the building was vacant when this was filmed in 1984. Of course, I'm too young to remember any of this. I only found this out because there was a picture of Garfinckel's in the newspaper today and I recognized it from this movie, so I looked the information up online. |
