I said Indonesian origin because all other Perodua Rusa entries in the site have incorrect origins; others listed with Malaysian origins but that's wrong and contradicted by Wikipedia. The second-generation Daihatsu Zebra, which was originally based on, was already in production earlier here in Indonesia on April 1995 before the Perodua models. Malaysia have to wait until 1996 to get their locally-built Perodua models. Requesting a mass edit change here, and in the forums. Wikipedia wrote The second-generation Daihatsu Zebra van, known as the Zebra Espass was based on the eighth-generation Hijet and introduced in April 1995. The pickup truck version retained the D130 Jumbo badge, available from January 1996.
