AOLJU wrote the #2 McLaren/Amon car for Shelby American as well: and the #5 Bucknum/Hutcherson car racing for Holman Moody: #8 Ford in main pic is Whitmore/Gardner for Alan Mann Racing of UK All 3 main cars Supposed MkIV from the red/white #1 livery but looks more like one of the MKI's with modified panels: In the real 1966 Le Mans race no less than 8X GT40 7.0lt/MkII's and 5X 4.7lt/MkI's started for various teams US and European. RCR -Race Car Replicas of Fraser, Michigan USA built 6 to 9 (depending on source) replica GT40's of all types among many more other models for the movie. That and the No. 8 Ford GT40, driven by British racing driver, John Whitmore and his Australian co-driver, Frank Gardener failed to finish with clutch problems, six hours into the race with 31 laps completed. -- Last edit: 2024-06-02 13:36:12
