The Regent Oil Company had a number of Mk.1 Atkinsons, and this one could date from anywhere between 1958 and 1964. It's probably not strictly a 'Black Knight', as the 'Knight' range wasn't introduced until 1964. Depending upon when it was built, it's likely to be either an L1786X or an L2486X. Atkinson changed the chassis designations from indicating a notional payload to the gross weight, so a vehicle with a nominal payload of 17 tons became one with a gross weight of 24 tons. |
