It's not a 1949, it's a 1950 98 sedan. It seems to have an aftermarket chrome line in the center of the hood, probably to make for the missing hood ornament (often prohibited as dangerous in europeaan countries; and we know that the film was shot in England). |

If you lighten the photo, you can see it's got an English license plate (The movie was set in the U.S. but filmed in England). |

Just watched the movie on TCM again - in this shot the car has the English plate, but in a later scene it has an Air Force plate; maybe Kubrick caught it and changed it but the editor missed it? |
