@Alex, 1995 by the plate, or...? This is the older front. |

I think he will post plate checks as usual were there early 1995s (calendar year) with the old front? Happy delayed birthday Sandie! |

Thanks! The changeover was very late 1994, so could be a late registration and they might have started LHD production later. We've had other late registration ones: /vehicle_836948-Rover-Metro-R6-1994.html |

@Sandie: first, Happy Delated Birthday! second, yes, it's by the plate, but I was in doubt if there were pre-facelift (Metro) 1995 models, then I saw that there is another 1995 114 GTi that looks like a pre-facelift one: /vehicle_33139-Rover-114-GTi-R6-1995.html I'll post all the checks after the season is completed, but since there is interest, I'll post the details of this one now: BG264FH Telaio: SAXXPWNKRAD915233 Motore: 14K4F Immatricolazione Italia: 15/07/1995 SAX = Rover XP = Rover Metro/111/114 W = GTI N = 3-door K = 1400 16v MPI catalyst R = manual 5 speed - LHD 5C37 A = 1990 (as model change year) D = Longbridge #915233 VIN code not helpful for checking the MY |

There was no GTi after the Jan 95 facelift, or any other continuing version with the 1.4 16v engine. So any "95"s were left-overs - showroom orphans, or maybe a final 94 batch for I which seems to have liked them more than elsewhere?? |

I tried a couple of plates yesterday but I was way off 1995 facelift was introduced in Italy with March 1995 price list. I've asked a friend of mine to check with the subscribed official ACI app to have the exact registration date (15/07 is a date that appears when correct one is unavailable on those part sites), anyway this car was re-registered in 2000. Yes, 114 GTi and Rover 100 in general sold quite well here |

Original registration date is 10/05/1995, scrapped in 2004. I checked more carefully and: facelifted model was introduced with the March 1995 price list, but the 114GTi remained available until June, "until stocks lasts", so this one likely is one of those ones. I also thought about an earlier one imported in 1995, but usually both the ACI app and the part site have the original foreign registration date (if EU country I believe) I checked for curiosity the facelifted 111SL tested by Quattroruote in July 1995 (plate AC096XP) and was registered on 01/03/1995. So, we leave this one as 1995 or most probably it was built in late 1994? |

I'd be reasonably content with it being listed as a 95 as the variant was still in 1995 price lists. I wonder if as the model was popular they were building lots of LHD GTIs towards the end of 1994 so they could maintain availiability longer with it not being replaced. |

Personally I agree with leaving as it is Maybe, that's possible I guess. Haven't seen a GTi (or any Rover 100) in ages though |
