The original first Benz car was built 1885 and first used on public roads in 1886. Today this is being regarded as the first combustion engine vehicle. The vehicle in the picture is one of the replicas produced for the centenary. Daimler and Benz merged in 1926. The two pioneers never even met in their lives. |

Et l'original est visible... et foinctionne, même, au Musée Mercedes de Stuttgart. A visiter absolument! |

Probably exactly the same vehicle as this (how many other proper replicas of this machine could there be in Britain?): /vehicle_141918-Benz-Patent-Motorwagen-1886.html -- Last edit: 2007-12-03 15:38:20 |

There ae currently arround 300 replica models in the world. They have been made since 1987 by John Bentley & Sons Engineering in Batley West Yorkshire. they have been made in 2 colour variants. Black Painted chassis are replicas made for mercedes benz, and green chassis were made by the company for private sale. Although they are able to be used as show cars they do not meet the laws of the UK and therefore cannot be registered to be run on the public roads. Due to this they are sold strictly as display cars only. |
