Do you mean Farina or were they called Futura in Sweden |

Futura was the name used in Sweden and Denmark |

I would not have thought Austin would have been able to use the Futura name when Ford had been using it -- Last edit: 2008-10-21 07:34:13 |

Ford Australia introduced the Falcon Futura in 1962: the Austin A40 came out in 1958 (1959 my), so the Scandinavian importers beat Ford to the name. (Don't think Farina would have been very pleased, though.) |

Yes but Ford had the Futura name prior to that. The original Batmobile was a 1955 Lincoln Futura |

I think that's not as uncommon as one could expect... Toyota Dyna - Panhard Dyna; Berliet Dauphine - Renault Dauphine; Ford (Comète) Monte Carlo - Saab (96) Monte Carlo; Volkswagen 411 - Unimog 411; Sunbeam Tiger - Messerschmitt Tiger; Chrysler Alpine - Sunbeam Alpine - Renault Alpine; Hindustan Ambassador - AMC Ambassador; Morris Minor - Aero Minor; Daf Marathon - Marathon Corsaire - Ford Corsair; Dornier Delta - Lancia Delta; Fiat 500 Belvedere - Plymouth Belvedere... Just to name a few. |
