According to a book I purchased recently, M4 A2 Shermans were powered by twin GMC engines. M4 A3 Shermans (larger 76mm gun & more side armour are said to be powered by a Ford GAA V8)
So shouldn't these A2's be listed as GMC?

Because of the welded hull, 76mm T23 turret US designation of this tank is an M4A3E8, however, this one is one of the six that were given to the British Army for evaluation, but never actually used in combat. The British designation for this configuration was Sherman IVY (as in roman numerals for 4Y rather than the plant Ivy)

It's a M4A2(76)HVSS. The fourth thumbnail shows enough of the engine deck and fuel/oil filler cap arrangements to prove this.
