dhill_cb7 ◊ 2021-03-02 01:54	That is actually truncated the first 3 digits are WVW. For some reason early Swedish VINs omitted the WMI. Atom may have an answer as to why. I haven’t the slightest clue.
tore-40 ◊ 2021-03-02 15:31	Also the old Norwegian Biltilsynet truncated the ViNs, but if the info was redundant (mostly they were used to identify the car at roadside or MOT checks, the make was then obvious, nothing like today), if the data input for each vehicle would be faster and less prone to errors, or if the practice would save storage space in the early days of EDP and IT, is unclear
