I've never heard of this model, is it just a 5000 with a different name? |

Sorry guy. If you don't know it yet, I'm a true Audi enthusiast, and in this occasion I've just said my opinion about this car (I'm not the only one that write comments like that). In my previous comment, anyway, I can't find any kind of offense ![]() |

Audi 5000 was the Audi 100, replaced by the A6. The V8 is the ancestor of the A8. |

Actually the V8 had far more in common with the 5000 than the A8. The V8 evolved from the type 44 chassis. There are many shared body parts between V8 and 5000. The A8 was a whole new chassis. I believe the A8 motor evolved loosely from the V8, but was updated fairly significantly as well. The V8 was a distinct model, with the actual model designation from Audi being "V8". All had Quattro. |

I was meaning in term of position in the models range, not technically. |

In Europe, too. It was never a big selling-success. Very cheap to buy today: Link to "suchen.mobile.de" so you can use it here: /vehicle_179972-Audi-V8-D11-1988.html |
