Where is that Volkswagen now? Did anybody else notice there was a third taillight stem mounted above the rear hood? |

I found it pretty ironic that Buddy Hackett was in the VW Beetle in this film, when in a few years, he would co-star along with Herbie, a 1963 VW Beetle. |

I've read somewhere that said Volkswagen started selling the convertible version in the US in 1956. |

?????..... The original poster writes "Volkswagen" as in "Volkswagen of America" / "VWoA". Maybe this was lost in translation to you? Or to paraphrase the character Hugo Drax in the 007 film "Moonraker": "You must excuse me, gentlemen; not being German, I sometimes find your sense of humor rather difficult to follow." |

i guess ' that said Volkswagen ' can also be interpreted as ' this specific Volkswagen ' .. -- Last edit: 2021-08-21 04:56:36 |

1952-1954, possibly 1955 - why pick 1954? And it can't be a 1956 as stated above - shown in (Canadian) 1953 brochure, at least, and the details don't match 1956 Only external views, 1952 upgrades visible (October, this was before the model years, a.o. vent wings, taillights and engine cover) but not the 1954 items (May, a.o stone chip guards but these could be removed) and only one single exhaust visible (dual exhaust MY1956) |
