It seems to be a 1953+ "oval window" model. |

I'd say, it's a 1952 model. The pic is a bit blurry, but it seem, that it has the legendary "Rheumaklappe" (= "rheumatism-flap" ), the air-intake on the side panel between door and fender. Nickname "Rheumaklappe", because by open flaps the fresh air goes directly over your knees and legs. The customers had complained about that, so VW only had produced it one year, only in 1952. |

Hmm, it seems to be something there but I don´t think it´s the "Rheumaklappe". The position of those was slightly lower and this car doesn´t have the split rear window either. It also seems that the car is equipped with the 15 inch wheels, the earlier 16 inch wheels give the whole car a higher appearance. Production of the "Rheumaklappe" ran from spring of 1951 till october 1952. So rpcm is right. Link to "www.shorey.net" |

I think that what can be seen on the left of the door are the radio aerial attachements ( two ). This type of aerial was a very common period accessory. |
