1982 Pontiac J2000 Safari but could also be 1983 Pontiac 2000 Safari, or a 1984 Pontiac 2000 Sunbird Safari or 1985-1987 Pontiac Sunbird Safari -- Last edit: 2008-12-21 17:47:11 |

To me the front looks more like the Olds version (Firenza). Also, the wheelcovers don't look very Pontiac-ish -- Last edit: 2008-12-21 20:32:47 |

My first thought was Buick Skyhawk. |

Well the only way for us to figure out which version of the J-cars this is, I think, is by the wheels in the second thumbnail. -- Last edit: 2008-12-22 01:17:58 |

well the hubcaps don't look like any j-cars that i have seen (but they are hub-caps so they could be from anything) As for this car the Firenza has wrap around sidemarkers by the headlights therefore do not have sidemarkers on the fenders like the car in the pic, so that rules that one out. The Chevrolet Cavalier and Cadillac both used fender-mounted sidemarkers but both of those used longer and shorter fixtures than the one in this picture. So thats 2 more down That leaves the Pontiac and Buick variations, which both use this Sidemarker Light, BUT the Skyhawk had hidden headlights and a pointier nose than the picture here My Consensus? PONTIAC |

Well I've looked at both Buick and Oldsmobile brouchures and I've found that these wheelcovers EXACTLY match the Olds Firenza. The only problem is that the Firenza didn't have the side marker lights, and those can't be switched out (unlike wheelcovers). The only two that did have those side markers are the Pontiac and the Buick, though the Buick had a different nose, so that only leaves Pontiac. So it's a 1985 Pontiac Sunbird with replacement Oldsmobile wheelcovers |

why 1985? |

It's just easier that way since we don't have to deal with the confusing name changes from 1982-84 ![]() |

Safari should be a part of the name since it was attached to all Pontiac wagons... with the exception of the Vibe of course ![]() |
