It's a french aircraft : Sud Est Aviation "Caravelle". A DC-9 it's a american copy (built to licence, but never paid)! This scene probabily filmed in Paris Airport "Le Bourget". |

A strange, but very comfortable aircraft; nose section came from the De Havilland Comet, and you entered under the tail. I flew from Dubrovnik to Manchester in one belonging to JAT (who had bought it second-hand, I think from Air France) in 1974. |

This is indeed a Sud-Est Aviation Caravelle 12, the latest and finest evolution of the Caravelle produced from 1970 to 1972. Streched version for 140 passengers. Great link, sixcyl! Now I can count the portholes on the Buick, and there are 4. That means it is an Electra [4739]. The possible Cougar is also in the photo between the white wagon and the gold sedan with black vinyl roof covering. |

@sixcyl - from Wikipedia: 'On 6 July 1953 the SGACC ordered two prototypes and two static airframes for fatigue testing. Sud's design licensed several fuselage features from de Havilland, a company Sud had dealings with for several earlier designs. The nose area and cockpit layout were both taken directly from the Comet, while the rest of the plane was locally designed.' |
