What's the blue car with the crashed back behind the fence? It's nothing American. I have only a few doubts, but I would say, it's an Audi 60, resp. Super 90! The position of the back window and the shape of wheel arch and back door are typical. |

No other view in the movie... maybe this pic taken from my version will help? http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/9966/000201kb8.jpg -- Last edit: 2009-01-04 18:16:15 |

Thanks, but the pic of the Land Cruiser is a bit better. I'm getting more and more sure, that it's an Audi Super 90. I cannot remember any other four-door-car in this shape (Ford Cortina or so). |

Great find (as always) Ingo! It's difficult to say for the crashed back, but I'm thinking that you're right Yes, it can be an Audi Super 90 http://www.audistory.24max.de/old1/picold/super90_2.jpg . If so, it would be hyper rare one, as you've said, and should be listed as well P.S. Ingo, you were waiting my answer, weren't you? |

Looks to small for Audi60/ Super 90? |
◊ 2009-01-05 19:38 |
@tali: perhaps because it's among US-cars. No, if you put the shape of the chassis in comparison with the doors and the wheel-arch, it's for very sure an Audi [F103}, because it's in the USA surely a Super 90. P.S. And the position of the back window is very F103-like. -- Last edit: 2009-01-05 19:39:21 |

@walter: for sure. |

The hyperrare Audi Super 90 is in my opinion absolutely woth to list! |

I'm with tali on this - despite the damage the wing length looks intact. |

I think it is a (US-version of) Fiat 128... |
◊ 2011-04-15 11:32 |
As it didn't seem so sure it was, I didn't list it, but we can list it. I'll add a page for the Toyota and keep this one for the "probably Audi" so we keep comments here. |

But isn't it simply /vehicle_5818-Ford-Consul-Cortina-1963.html ? |
◊ 2011-04-15 12:27 |
I don't think it's the Cortina - this looks 4 door if it's facing left with a rear quarterlight and the wheels would not have black centres. For me the Fiat 128 idea is the best yet - would give the short boot and the slanted rear. |
◊ 2011-04-15 13:26 |
128 launched early 1969. No idea of US introduction date. |
◊ 2011-04-15 17:27 |
Other USA models are listed as 1971. |
◊ 2011-04-15 21:38 |
It is an Audi Super 90 fore sure To identify especially by shape and position of the back window, also the shape of side windows and wheel arches fit. No Cortina and no Fiat 128, definetely. |
◊ 2011-04-15 21:53 |
I'd really like it to be an Audi... But I'm afraid it isn't. Though the colour would fit... |
◊ 2012-12-13 18:29 |
ABSOLUTELY NOT A FIAT 128 !!! Windows dimensions don't fit, neither the wheels arches. I agree with an Audi (F103) or a Japanese (Datsun). |

OK - 2 questions I can't decide: - which way is it facing? (so is the crushed bit the front or back?) - is it a 2 or 4 door? |
◊ 2012-12-13 19:15 |
Looks like a DAF 46 or 66... |

Will this help? http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:DAF_img_2296.jpg |

Aren't the seats right of the door pillar? In that case it's the front we see, not the rear. |
◊ 2012-12-13 20:34 |
Were DAFs sold in the US? Not a bad idea if they were, it's too small to be an Audi, IMO. |
◊ 2012-12-13 21:11 |
I think it's pointing left, so it's the boot that's bashed (also the bash looks into an empty space, not a solid engine); it may be a 4 door as seems like front and rear quarterlights, but confused by fence between - the far side left quarterlight (front for me) is the clearest with possibly a near side one on right. I also don't think we can see door handles - there is a flash, but it's a glint of some sort. High back seats so 68 or later. Middle pillar is confusing - it seems to slant left but am not sure how real that is. |

The 44 and 46 were imported and rebuilt to electric powered vehicles by a company called CHW: Link to "dafclubamerica.proboards.com" Link to "dafclubamerica.proboards.com" But the company started using DAF in 1975 so I'd guess it isn't one after all... http://www.daf.dse.nl/usa-Waterman%20Electric%20Dafs.htm |

Audi [F103]. Definitely. No doubt about it. Every detail fits. |

Thanks for the correct listing. It took years... |

I supposed only 2 door sedan and 3 door wagon were the Audi Super 90 imported in the USA. This is a 4 door sedan. Maybe bought in Germany by a US officer and taken to the US. I watched yeasterday another movie set in San Francisco in which a Ford Taunus 20M coupé (P5) is clearly visible with its American plate.. Same situation in my opinion since both were never sold in USA. -- Last edit: 2020-04-22 08:54:02 |

Audi 90 in US info from Import Catalog. 1970 was 1st year of official Audis in US, launched with both Super 90 and 100 LS: - 1970 Super 90 available as 2-dr, 4-dr and Station Wagon - 1134 sold in US in year - 1971 Super 90 available as 2-dr, 4-dr and Station Wagon - 2425 sold in US in year - 1972 Super 90 available as 2-dr, 4-dr and Station Wagon - 1921 sold in US in year (with supplementary comment that only 721 were reported as built in Germany that year). Not listed for 73+. Also 128 info agrees with e225 - launched in US "late in 1971 model year" - 2-dr, 4-dr and Station Wagon. Was it this one (set in SF)?? Or have you found a friend for it?? |
